Technology Empowers Civil Engineering Education: The 2025 iBridge Cup Concludes Successfully — Winners Announced

The Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association, dedicated to advancing science and energy education, joined hands today with the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) to host the "2025 iBridge Cup Bridge Load and Innovative Design Competition" at NKUST's Jiangong Campus. This year's event drew 20 outstanding junior high, senior high, and vocational school teams from across the nation, and was successfully combined with NKUST's long-running "Seismic Resistance Cup," injecting fresh, innovative energy into civil engineering education in Taiwan.

Deepening STEAM Education with International-Grade Testing Technology

Our association has long focused on students' hands-on abilities in science and engineering. To raise the scientific rigor of the competition, this year we introduced the GoDirect Structures & Materials Tester — the same class of equipment used in the international bridge competition in the United States. Unlike traditional competitions that can only measure failure load, this equipment converts stress loading and deflection into real-time visualized curves, allowing students to gain a deep, data-driven understanding of how structures bear forces and embodying the spirit of scientific evidence.

We thank the Department of Civil Engineering at NKUST for its full support in realizing the vision of "big hands guiding small hands," giving secondary school students early access to university-level professional resources. Our association will continue to deepen industry-academia collaboration, introduce advanced educational tools, and cultivate future engineering talent with independent thinking and data analysis skills.
