Planting the seeds of green-energy education! AESEA and CIP's Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm successfully complete a wind energy teacher workshop at Kanglang Elementary School

To plant the seeds of renewable energy deep within school campuses, our association was honored to partner with CIP's Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm — and, with the full support of Kanglang Elementary School, successfully held a truly distinctive "KidWind Wind Energy Teacher Workshop." Through hands-on practice and scientific inquiry, the event let educators experience the wonders of wind power generation firsthand, injecting fresh momentum into the future of green-energy education.

Highlights of the workshop included:

  • Industry-academia collaboration opens the day: Special thanks to Kanglang Elementary School Principal Wang Sheng-chung and CIP Manager Chan for jointly opening the event, setting a wonderful tone for this workshop uniting industry and education.
  • Hands-on making, scientific exploration: Led by AESEA supervisor Mr. Wu Ming-te, teachers used everyday paper cups as blade material to assemble their own miniature wind turbine generators, guided step by step in clear, accessible terms.
  • Understanding the principles, optimizing performance: During the build, Mr. Wu explained the core scientific principles of turbine design, including the interplay between lift and drag and the key indicator of turbine performance — the Tip Speed Ratio. Teachers were guided to shape blade geometry and adjust blade pitch angles, gaining a deep understanding of how fluid-dynamic design achieves optimal power generation.
  • Precise measurement, an engineer's experience: After assembly came the exciting testing phase. Using professional energy sensors, each team precisely measured the electrical output of their homemade turbines over 30 seconds. With real data feedback, teachers not only verified scientific theory but also experienced the satisfaction of solving problems like engineers as they adjusted variable after variable.

To close the event, AESEA Secretary-General Yang Tien-to introduced the rules and spirit of the internationally renowned "KidWind Challenge in Asia." Through exciting competition video highlights, the association hopes to encourage more schools, teachers, and students to form teams and take part.

Our association remains committed to advancing science education. We invite everyone to step into the challenging and fun-filled world of wind energy, and to help cultivate more outstanding green-energy talent for Taiwan's sustainable future!
