2025 KidWind Challenge in Asia Southern Regional Concludes — STEAM Education and Green-Energy Creativity Shine at Kaohsiung's National Science and Technology Museum

The Southern regional of the 2025 KidWind Challenge in Asia, co-organized by AESEA, was grandly held at the National Science and Technology Museum. Under the guidance of the Kaohsiung City Government Education Bureau, the event was jointly organized by the National Science and Technology Museum and the ROC Military Academy, bringing together 31 teams (16 in the high school division and 15 in the elementary/junior high division) to ignite a green-energy revolution with creative turbine designs. Over five hours, students repeatedly fine-tuned blade angles, resistance values, and gear ratios through wind tunnel testing — undaunted by motor overloads and wiring failures — in pursuit of maximum power output, fully embodying the STEAM spirit of scientific inquiry, hands-on engineering, and teamwork.

The event drew a distinguished gathering of guests, including AESEA Chairman Professor Chou Chien-heng of Vanung University, Advisor Professor Hung Wei-ching, and Managing Director Professor Chen Yu-jen; Section Chief Chan Yu-hsuan of the Information and International Education Section, Kaohsiung City Government Education Bureau; Director Chang-Chien Chih-ting of the Public Service Division, National Science and Technology Museum; Professor Huang Jen-wei of the ROC Military Academy; Dr. Lu Cheng-liang, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Association for Inquiry and Practice; Mr. Chen Kuan-tse of Little Stark Lab; and General Manager Hsu Chia-lung of Kuang Hua Instruments Co., Ltd.

The Southern regional was fiercely contested. Advancing teams will head to NTNU's Gongguan campus to compete alongside winners from the Northern and Central regionals and elite teams from across Asia, on the road to the 2026 World Championship in the United States! We hereby announce the Southern regional winners — congratulations to all our green-energy heroes; your creativity and passion have written a new chapter for a sustainable future!
