"Fun with Wind Power" Teacher Workshop at Keelung's Changxing Elementary School Concludes Successfully

On September 24, 2025, the Association held the "Fun with Wind Power" teacher workshop at Changxing Elementary School in Keelung, taught in person by AESEA Supervisor Mr. Wu Ming-Te, author of the book "Fun with Wind Power." The event drew 20 elementary and junior high school teachers from the Keelung area, with morning and afternoon sessions held in the school's maker classroom, guiding teachers from wind-energy concepts through to hands-on practice and turning scientific knowledge into classroom-ready experience.

In the morning session, "Fun with Wind Power: Wind-Energy Concepts and Basic Demonstrations," Mr. Wu explained wind-energy principles and turbine-blade design in clear, accessible terms, using live demonstrations to help teachers easily grasp how wind power generation works. In the afternoon session, "Fun with Wind Power: Making and Applying Wind-Energy Teaching Aids," teachers worked in groups to build miniature wind-power teaching aids and learn how to use them in class, experiencing the joy of turning knowledge into practice.

The teachers were fully engaged throughout, deepening their understanding of wind power by assembling models and working hands-on. After the course, many said they had benefited enormously and praised the model of combining theory with practice. We believe this workshop not only helps teachers master green-energy teaching techniques, but also guides teachers and students in exploring renewable-energy science, echoing the KidWind competition's mission of exploring clean energy in creative ways.

Under the Executive Yuan's 2050 net-zero transition plan, wind and solar power are key to Taiwan's energy transition. This event reflects grassroots education's commitment to sustainable energy and puts into practice the goal of integrating energy science into the curriculum. Going forward, we will continue to organize technology-education workshops, and we hope more teachers will weave green-energy ideas into their teaching, working together to root sustainability education deeply in our schools.
